Color Code Discipline Plan

Our class has created a list of rules which we feel are appropriate. The students understand that their color card will stay "on green" as long as they follow the rules and expectations of our classroom. At the end of the day, these students will receive $1.00 in Star Bucks.

Should a student need a reminder, the child will have their color card changed to yellow. This is strictly a reminder to follow the rules--the only consequence being that he or she will have to fill in their color chart yellow but he/she will still receive a $1.00 paycheck at the end of the day.

Should the child again choose not to follow the rules, his/her color will be changed to orange, with the consequence being a 5 minute "time out" at recess and no money at the end of the day.

Should the child again choose not to follow the class rules, their color card will be changed to red. At this time the child will lose all recess privileges, receive no money at the end of the day, and a call will be made to a parent. **Very few students reach this point. Should it become a habit, a conference will be scheduled with the parents, the student, the teacher and the Principal.

**Students can ALWAYS earn their way back from a color as well. Students who have had a color card changed and then show exemplary citizenship to fellow classmates can have their card changed back to the previous color.

**Students that go above and beyond the basic school rules and demonstrate outstanding citizenship or academic effort can also have a "Blue Star Day." This is then rewarded with a $5.00 paycheck for the day!
